Dr. Fan-Gang Zeng Elected into the National Academy of Engineering

Dr. Fan-Gang Zeng, an acclaimed scientist in the UC Irvine Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery, has been elected as an international member of the prestigious National Academy of Engineering. This honor is one of the highest recognitions that can be bestowed upon individuals in engineering and technical fields.

NAE LogoDr. Zeng is being recognized for his groundbreaking contributions to the development of better treatments for hearing loss and tinnitus, as well as for his dedication to fostering inclusiveness in the engineering profession.

Dr. Zeng is a professor of otolaryngology in the School of Medicine, professor of biomedical engineering in the Samueli School of Engineering, the founder and director of our Hearing and Speech laboratory here at UC Irvine, and a highly regarded scientist in the fields of otolaryngology and biomedical engineering. He is widely respected for his achievements, and his membership in exclusive organizations such as the Collegium Oto-Rhino-Larygologicum Amicitiae Sacrum and his fellowships in the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering, the Acoustical Society of America, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers are a testament to his outstanding contributions in the field.

We are also proud to note that with Dr. Zeng’s election, the University of California, Irvine is now home to a total of 17 members of the National Academy of Engineering, a remarkable achievement that reflects the excellence of our community and our collective dedication to discovery and research.
