Sunil P. Verma, M.D., M.B.A. is board-certified and fellowship trained in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
After pursuing his undergraduate studies at Dartmouth College, Dr. Verma completed medical school and residency training in Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Southern California. He then completed a fellowship in Laryngology under a team of world-renowned surgeons and scientists at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In 2020 he received an executive MBA at the Merage School of Business at UC Irvine.
Dr. Verma is an expert in the management of voice, breathing and swallowing disorders, and is well known for taking care of the most complex of conditions. He regularly treats singers, actors and other professional voice users. Using state-of-the-art equipment, he is able to perform numerous procedures, such as laser surgery and vocal fold injections, in the office rather than the operating room. Dr. Verma performs minimally-invasive laser assisted surgery for laryngeal cancer, vocal fold lesions, Zenker’s diverticulum and airway stenosis with the goal of preserving normal anatomy, improving function and enhancing his patients’ quality of life.
As an Associate Professor at the University of California, Irvine, he enjoys teaching medical students and resident physicians. Dr. Verma is an active educator, and regularly travels throughout the country and internationally to teach other surgeons. He co-wrote a textbook “Laryngeal Dissection and Surgical Guide,” and has authored over 40 scientific publications and numerous book chapters. He is the medical director of the department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery as is an Assistant Dean in Clinical Affairs for UCI School of Medicine.
Dr. Verma has been honored numerous times as one of the “Best Doctors in America,” and has been recognized by the Orange County Medical Association as a “Physician of Excellence.” He was also recognized by Super Doctors as a Southern California Rising Stars Award recipient and was named an ARISE award winner for his achievements as an Innovator at UC Irvine Health. He has been featured on the Discovery Channel and as a medical expert numerous times on CBS for The Doctors TV Show.
Dr. Verma sees patients in both the Orange and Irvine offices. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
