Julie A. Goddard, M.D.Julie A. Goddard, M.D., is board certified in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery with subspecialty fellowship training in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery. She graduated summa cum laude from Southern Methodist University and received her medical degree with honors from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. She then remained in Houston to complete residency training in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. After residency, she served on the faculty in the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Aurora, CO as a general otolaryngologist. She then pursued additional advanced training in head and neck surgical oncology and microvascular reconstruction at the University of Cincinnati with a team of nationally and internationally recognized surgeons.

Dr. Goddard treats all ear, nose, and throat disorders, but specializes in treatment of head and neck cancers, benign head and neck tumors or masses, thyroid and parathyroid diseases, salivary gland obstructive disease, and complex reconstruction of head and neck cancer defects. She has experience in robotic surgery for minimally invasive approaches to oropharynx and larynx tumors. She utilizes office based ultrasound in the evaluation of thyroid and other head and neck diseases. She is also one of few providers in Southern California to have training in sialendoscopy, an innovative procedure that allows for minimally invasive treatment of certain salivary gland diseases.

Dr. Goddard is a member of the UCI multidisciplinary head and neck cancer program coordinated through the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, the only comprehensive cancer center designated by the National Cancer Institute in Orange County. This group includes head and neck surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, neuroradiologists, anatomic pathologists, and speech pathologists who plan the care of all head and neck cancer patients in a streamlined and coordinated fashion.

As part of her role at UC Irvine, Dr. Goddard is active in many academic endeavors. She participates in meetings of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, American Head and Neck Society, and Orange County Society of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. As an Assistant Professor at UCI, she enjoys educating residents and medical students and also has experience providing seminars to primary care providers and practitioners outside the university. She participates in clinical research primarily related to head and neck cancer.
